Our Oregon Trails

Growing up as a kid, my favorite game on those little Mac PCs was “The Oregon Trail.” We played it at school and it was much harder to beat than say Mario Brothers (no offense).  Yet, in all my travels I never ventured out to Oregon.  Well, until now that is.  I had a conference back in August for work in Portland, so Deb and I decided to make our own Oregon Trail.  I had heard how beautiful Oregon was, how outdoorsy it was and blah blah, but none of it could really prepare me for how true all of it was.  People were outdoors everywhere, all over the state.  Hiking, biking, fishing, chilling, surfing, running… and it was more scenic than I could have ever imagined.

Anyway, instead of boring you with more words, I’ll let the pictures do most of the talking… enjoy this very long post.

Our 2015 Brazilian adventure

Jeremy and I have been fortunate to travel to so many wonderful places. I’m almost always excited about where we will go next, but there’s something special and different about Brazil. I still get a little nervous and nostalgic about traveling to Brazil because of the many memories of growing up there. Memories of my family, of its beautiful landscape, the amazing food, warm people, and the musical atmosphere.

If I had it all

If I had it all figured out
There’d be no point in dreaming
If I could rid the world of every problem
Our time would be void of meaning

If I made all the right choices
I’d be robbed of learning from my mistakes
And if everything was certain
What’d be the point of faith?

Questions circling, my mind racing, my emotions ragging,
Try to grasp what I’m saying…

Life is a collection of seasons and Deb and I find ourselves in the midst of a new season of life.  It’s been six months since our journey from McKinney to downtown Dallas; and in many ways we’ve had to begin anew.  New dwellings, new neighbors, new school, new church, new obstacles and new relationships being built; yet every day we find ourselves feeling more and more at home… So, with joy and fresh hope, we embrace all the challenges, opportunities and growth this new season has in store for us.
